The Weird & Wonderful Surviveries of Squid Horse is a colourful comic memoir about defying multiple, hidden challenges and daring to tell one’s story as a fish out of the water creative in a norm-core world refusing to believe you exist. Suitable for ages 14+. #cosytrauma

37 independent yet interconnected short stories are told from the point of view of the child of Chinese immigrants, born and raised in the UK, and who happens to be neurodivergent, queer and trans. Themes explored include mental health mazes, a missing person mystery and the healing power of the imagination.

For as long as he can remember, Squid has drawn comics to process anxiety and confusion, and since his teens, Horse‘s friends and family have been puzzled by his depressive rages. After cataclysmic events, Squid and Horse go on a fragmented adventure with dream-like twists, encountering weird memories, past and present selves and magical discoveries! You’re invited to dip or dive into this quirky debut autobiographical collection of 37 self-contained yet interwoven short comic stories. Based on the unique (yet relatable) lived experiences ofThe Mollusc Dimension, a British-born Chinese, queer, trans, neurodivergent artist, this book is about surviving multiple hidden challenges and daring to imagine.
