What happened to my senses?
An exploration of P. R. Kaur Gibbons 2023 crisis episode through her senses.
Paramjit (pu-rum-JEET)/Pam (she/her) is a self-taught art maker and Higher Education educator. She tables at comic/zine/book fairs/melas selling/trading her 'small zines' (8 page folded zine from A4 paper) on Punjabi (her mother tongue), nature, poetry and mental health.
She is in an art collective (Zine You Next Tuesday) that publish 'big zines' (A5 book) and is in 3 issues: Dream, Egg and F#@*.
She loves facilitating community workshops focused on small zine-making, playing with objects and colour, and collaging with anything. She started embroidery in 2025, aiming to integrate it into her visual storytelling soon.
In this work, Paramjit uses Punjabi, prose, watercolour, and pen to share her story about her Bipolar 2 mental health crisis in 2023. A longer version of this zine was first published as a digital download for an online comics fair in July 2025. This is her first printed 'big zine'/graphic memoir.
Content warning: Bipolar 2 mental health crisis, deep emotional distress, medical trauma, obsessive behaviour, medication usage, loneliness. Support resources are provided on page 34.
